I finally did it—I launched my first personal website. It’s been a long time coming, and honestly, I’m thrilled to share it with you.
But let’s rewind a bit. Why did I even want to build a website in the first place?
Why a website?
I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of having my own little corner of the internet. Seeing indie web developers with their own websites made me think, I want that too. There’s something incredibly neat about having a space that’s entirely yours—a place where you can express yourself, share your thoughts, and document your journey.
For me, a website is more than just a digital presence. It’s a resume, a portfolio, a brain dump, a creative outlet, and so much more. It’s a time capsule for my thoughts, projects, and growth. I hope my future self looks back at this and thinks, Hey, not bad.
But it’s not just about me. I also wanted to create something that could connect with others. Whether it’s through sharing my experiences, my interests, or the lessons I’ve learned along the way, I hope this website can be a source of inspiration, comfort, or even just a fun distraction for anyone who stumbles upon it.
Ady, what exactly is this website?
To put in simple terms, it’s a reflection of me. It’s where I share my thoughts, my projects, and the things I’m passionate about. From blog posts like this one to random musings on life, this website is a little piece of my world.
But it’s also a work in progress. Just like me, it’s constantly evolving. Some days it’s polished and put-together; other days, it’s a little messy. And that’s okay. Because life isn’t perfect, and neither is this website.
Now, let’s talk about the how.
Creating a website might sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. For me, it started with a simple idea: I want to create something. I didn’t overthink it or wait for the “perfect” moment. I just started.
This website is powered by Hugo and styled by the PaperMod theme. I fell in love with PaperMod’s minimalistic and simple design—it’s clean, functional, and exactly what I was looking for. I was inspired by a web developer named Dominik, whose work reminded me that sometimes less is more. If you’re looking for inspiration on other minimalistic websites, I highly recommend checking out deadsimplesites.com.
The site is currently hosted on Netlify’s free tier, which has been a great way to get started without breaking the bank. If you’re curious about the code behind this website, feel free to check out this blog on how I did it.
Why You Should Create Your Own Website
If you’re still on the fence about creating your own website, let me leave you with this:
The internet is a vast, noisy place, but there’s always room for more voices. Your voice. Your perspective. Your story. Whether you want to share your hobbies, document your journey, or just have a space to call your own, creating a website can be incredibly rewarding.
So, what are you waiting for? Take the leap. Start small. Make it personal. And most importantly, have fun with it. Who knows? Your website might just inspire someone else to create their own.
Let’s Connect!

- Who you are
- How you discovered my website
- What you think of it
- (Optionally) One thing you learned today
Or anything else you want to share. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
